The Daughters of Philip: A House Full of Prophecy

Women in the Bible

Four daughters. All four prophesying.

Acts 21:9 records it with breathtaking simplicity — Philip the evangelist had four virgin daughters who prophesied. No further explanation. No qualification. Just — four daughters, and all four of them moving in the prophetic gift, in the same household, under the same roof.

Philip himself was one of the seven deacons of the early church, a man who had preached the gospel in Samaria and led the Ethiopian eunuch to Christ. He had built a home saturated with the Spirit of God — and what filled the house spilled over into his daughters. All four of them. Not one, not two — all four.

We don’t know their names. We don’t know what they prophesied or to whom. We don’t know the specific words they spoke or the specific lives they touched. What we know is that when Paul arrived in Caesarea and stayed in Philip’s house, Acts 21:8-9, he found himself in a home where the prophetic gift was as natural as breathing — where daughters moved in the Spirit as a matter of course, as part of the ordinary rhythm of that household’s life with God.

This is exactly what Joel had promised and Peter had proclaimed on the Day of Pentecost — “Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy.” Acts 2:17. The daughters of Philip were not an exception or an anomaly. They were the fulfilment of a promise God had been making since before the church existed.

The Holy Spirit does not run out. He does not distribute gifts sparingly or reluctantly. He fills houses, families, generations — and when He finds a household that makes room for Him, He fills every person in it.

Friend, what would it look like for your home to be a house like Philip’s — a place so saturated with the presence of the Holy Spirit that the gifts flow naturally, where the people you love most are also the people most deeply marked by God’s Spirit?

It begins with you. It begins with surrender. It begins with making room.

Four daughters. All four prophesying. That is what a Spirit-filled home produces.

May yours be one of them. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
