Joy: Unshakeable and Uncontainable
There is a joy the world cannot give — and cannot take away. It doesn’t rise and fall with our circumstances, our bank account, or the headlines. It runs deeper than all of that. Scripture calls it the joy of the Lord, and it is one of the most powerful realities available to every believer.
The Apostle Paul knew suffering intimately — imprisonment, beatings, shipwreck, rejection. And yet from a prison cell he wrote: “Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!” (Philippians 4:4, NKJV). This is not the cheerfulness of someone who has never suffered. This is the testimony of a man who found something unshakeable beneath his feet.
That something is a Person. Jesus Himself said, “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full” (John 15:11, NKJV). He wasn’t offering us a feeling — He was offering us Himself. The joy of the Lord flows from intimacy with Christ: a life rooted in His love, nourished by His Word, surrendered to His Spirit.
This joy is not manufactured through positive thinking or willpower. It is a gift — freely given, supernaturally sustained. And when we carry it, people notice. In a world starved for hope, a believer who radiates the joy of the Lord becomes a beacon — not because life is perfect, but because they know the One who holds it all.
Friend, draw near to Him today. Spend time in His presence. Let His Word renew your mind. Choose — yes, choose — to fix your eyes on what is eternal rather than what is temporary. The joy of the Lord is your strength, and it is available to you right now.
May it overflow in your life and spill into everyone around you.
Amen.
